UPLOADING FILES TO YOUR WEBSITE
After creating web pages on your computer, you upload those files to the web server using any standard FTP (File Transfer Protocol) utility application program.
Although you may use any FTP program you wish, we recommend WS_FTP from IpSwitch
for Windows machines, while Macintosh users often prefer to use Fetch from Fetch Softworks.
Follow the instructions for your FTP program to add the following configuration:
| |
FTP Server: |
ftp.vip.ocsnet.net |
| Username: |
You selected these when creating your site in OACYS User Administration |
| Password: |
| Upload Directory: |
/MyWebsite |
EXAMPLE USING WS_FTP
· Local Folder can be set to where web files are stored on your computer
· Upload directory is set in Advanced Properties > Startup > Remote Site Folder
Only those files you place in the upload directory (/MyWebsite) will be visible to the public.
Your default home page file should be named index.html, any other names must be explicit in the URL.
IMPORTANT! OACYS does not maintain backups of your personal web site, the copy stored on your PC is your backup!
