Celebrating the 50th Consecutive Renewal

of Our Perpetual One-Year Option

Away back in 1996 on a freighter trip down the Pacific Coast, the Captain of the MV Widukind took five of us passengers ashore at Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica, a port on the Central Pacific Coast, to while the day away as the ship was being loaded and unloaded. We went to the resort Fiesta Hotel which impressed us greatly with lots of activities going on for the hotel guests - children and adults. We were impressed enough to consider returning.

Fast forward now to 2002, the year of our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We thought it would be a nice idea to spend it at the Fiesta Hotel and invite our four children, their spouses and children to come on down to share it with us. So we told them we would be there for ten days over two weekends and for them to let us know which days they could get out of school and off work to join us. Because the resort is "all inclusive" - meaning all meals, unlimited refreshments including local alcoholic beverages, equipment, activities and tips are included in a single price - we didn't expect to be impoverished by it and agreed to make it our treat (actually we were just spending their money). Much to my surprise (Dotty expected it!) each of the children said that they wanted the full 10 days! That made 17 of us - four of our children and four of their spouses, ages 47 to 52 and seven grandchildren, ages 4, 6, 9, 12, 14, 16 and 19. The four year old is a "Princess" and the others are just boys.

So everything was booked for Dec.5 -16, 2002 through our Long Beach California travel agents, Greg and Charlene Bennett of Wes Carroll Travel Services (which is, unfortunately, no longer active).
